What are Green-SourceTM Diamonds?

Green-Source Diamonds represent a new standard in the diamond industry—one rooted in responsibility, transparency, and positive global impact. These are not anonymous diamonds of unknown origin. They are natural diamonds sourced intentionally and ethically, from legitimate mines that contribute meaningfully to the communities and countries in which they operate. As Green-Source Diamonds enter the market, they offer consumers something rare: beauty with purpose.

At its core, Green-Source is a hallmark. It is a basic, agreed-upon ethical standard that ensures diamonds truly make the world a better place. This standard is built on three clear and uncompromising pillars.

What Green-SourceTM Diamonds Ensure

1. No Human Rights Abuses
Green-Source Diamonds are mined and manufactured under strict ethical conditions.

  • No forced labor, child labor, or human rights violations.
  • Ethical practices throughout both mining and manufacturing.
  • Sourcing only from legitimate, audited operations that meet established ethical standards.

2. Community Benefit
Green-Source Diamonds must benefit the people and communities on whose land they are found.

  • Fair compensation to local communities and governments
  • Economic contributions that support infrastructure such as schools, hospitals, roads, and clean water
  • Responsible land reclamation after mining, including posted bonds and environmental restoration

This ensures that diamond-producing regions—such as Botswana—see real, lasting improvements in quality of life and life expectancy as a result of diamond mining.

3. Financial Transparency
Green-Source Diamonds are backed by full financial integrity.

  • Transparent financial flows throughout the supply chain
  • Zero tolerance for money laundering or terrorist financing
  • Auditable systems that provide certainty and accountability.

This pillar guarantees that diamond transactions are clean, lawful, and aligned with global financial responsibility.

Traceability Through Technology

Green-Source Diamonds are supported by advanced traceability technology that follows a diamond from the mine to the finished gem. Each diamond is physically scanned at the mine. The diamond is uniquely identified and recorded using secure blockchain technology. Scans are matched at the manufacturing stage and again at grading laboratories such as GIA.

The polished diamond can be traced back to its exact rough diamond and original mine. This is not theoretical or paper-based sourcing. It is physical, technological proof of origin and ethics.

Ethical Sourcing Standard

The Rapaport Ethical Sourcing Standard defines ethical standards for diamond sourcing.

Human Rights

No human rights violations involved in the mining or manufacture of the diamonds.

Community Benefit

The local communities where the diamonds are mined obtain reasonable compensation and benefit from the diamond revenue. Mining sites are restored and reclaimed.

Financial Transparency

The source of money used to buy the diamonds meet strict Anti-Money Laundering and Counter Terrorist Funding compliance requirements. The financial affairs of the mining are independently audited, ensuring the mine’s revenue is accountable to all the mine’s stakeholders.

Diamond Traceability Standard

The purpose of the Rapaport Traceability Standard (RTS) is to ensure the legitimate source of a diamond is properly documented from the rough diamond mine to the finished polished diamond.

Rough Scan by Mining Company

The physical rough diamond is scanned in an auditable manner by an acceptable mining company, and the scan is entered into an approved blockchain database. The scan must uniquely identify the rough diamond and a unique identification number is assigned.

Rough Scan by Diamond Manufacturer

The physical rough diamond is scanned in an auditable manner by an acceptable diamond manufacturer, and the scan is entered into an approved blockchain database. The scan must uniquely identify the rough diamond and match the original scan by the mining company.

Scanning the Production Process

The rough diamond is scanned several times during the manufacturing process by the acceptable diamond manufacturer in such a manner that it provides an auditable trail ensuring that the finished polished diamond(s) originated from the original rough diamond scanned by the manufacturer. The scanning may be a component of the manufacturer’s ERP systems that are independently audited and verified. The scans are uploaded to an approved blockchain.

Final Polished Diamond Scan

The finished polished diamond is scanned in an auditable manner by the ethically acceptable diamond manufacturer and the scan is entered into an approved blockchain. The scan must uniquely identify the polished diamond and a unique identification number is assigned.

There is a reason that God gave diamonds to the poorest people in the world and made the richest desire them. Bridging that gap is ‘tikkun olam’, fixing the world.
That is why the diamond trade exists.
